Dear friends, guests and organizers of EXPO  Victor Khristenko Russia has been actively participating in worldwide exhibitions from day one of their history. This time, our country is presenting its own pavilion, one of the largest at the expo, for the first time after a rather long break. The Russian pavilion is an area for a dialogue between territories, generations, traditions and innovations. It is based in a simple idea that Better city is a good place for children to live. They are the ones who will be building cities of the future. Therefore, we will be presenting a fairytale city, or a City of Talents as we call it, where children will be sharing their vision of the future according to priorities of technological development. For Russia, EXPO 2010 is a great opportunity to contribute to development of the global dialogue on technology, as well to strengthen its cooperation with China, its neighbour and partner. I hope you enjoy visiting the Russian pavilion. Wishing all organizers and guests of EXPO 2010 success, prosperity and new ideas and projects, Victor Khristenko, Chairman of Organizing Committee off the Russian section at EXPO 2010, Industry and Trade Minister of the Russian Federation To participants and guests of the Russian pavilion at the World EXPO 2010  Vladimir STRASHKO Ladies and gentlemen, You’re about to enter the Russian pavilion at EXPO 2010; as if the gate of the country with the largest territory on the planet Earth opens before you. We’d like you to see Russia the way it is: a friendly, peace-loving, open and generous place. We hope that together with us, you’ll come to love our country which is famous for its friendly brave people; which takes pride in its multi-national cultural traditions and thousands of years of historical heritage; which has been surprising the world with its scientific and technological achievements and which has been attracting others with its beautiful nature and nice comfortable cities. The Russian section is based on the concept of the EXPO 2010 slogan, ‘Better city, better life’. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia was coordinating the preparation of Russia’s participation in EXPO 2010. The architecture of the pavilion and sections of the exposition, such as ‘Regions of the Russian Federation’, ‘New technologies for life support’, ‘Architecture of the future through children’s eyes’ and ‘City of talents’ are intended to form one harmonious whole. Boris Krasnov is the artistic director of the project; the ‘All-Russia Exhibition Center’ Company is the exhibition operator; and Levon Airapetov is the architect. The latter of the abovementioned sections, the fairytale ‘City of talents’ is organized as a number of theatric presentations which demonstrate projects of Russian scientists and inventors. And fairytale ideas of the children’s city are organically combined with quite serious and real scientific and technical developments. According to the interpretation of the Russian exposition, ‘better city for better life’ is a city of dreams, a city of the future, a city that keeps traditions, history, culture and specialties of each nation. The best city is a place where children are happy. Peaceful use of nuclear power in Russia, search for new kinds of energy for people’s daily living, and our efforts to preserve the environment are the main innovation aspects of the exposition’s content. We will show you how these global issues could be tackled with the help of new Russian technologies. We will do our utmost to help each guest of our pavilion to find something new and exciting, regardless of their age. Welcome to the Russian pavilion!
